Jane Invites A Fairy Agent To Have Tea With Her

(Background info: Jane, age 13, is the stepsister of Stephanie Goldmaracynthia Bell, a fairy princess who is destined to inherit the Crown of the Higher World. But having been stolen from the fairy realm in her infant years and raised on Earth, she became corrupt by the dark influence of the Lower World and became a notorious leader of criminals. But the fairies have now taken her back home. Meanwhile, Jane trains to communicate with the Higher World under the tutorage of a young fairy agent, Sophia-Highborn).

Show previous episode.

It was a Saturday morning and Jane awoke with joy at the thought of going to her fairy friend after breakfast.

She was careful not to have jam on her bread that morning or even to toast it like she normally did. Her mum noticed but didn’t say anything. Perhaps it was something to do with Jane’s passion for ballet and wanting to develop a better diet.

It was just after she had finished her breakfast that she felt a calling from Sophia-Highborn, telling her to come out into the back garden. It was an amazing experience and her first time sensing the nonverbal voice of a fairy. It was just a gentle and sweet inner stirring of the heart towards her duty and a sense and memory of her mentor’s presence. It also came with a quick but vivid flashback of being in the garden with her and an inclination to write something and go out there again.

It all happened so fast that she didn’t even think about trying to communicate in the same way back to the fairy. But she did start writing a message to her before going outside.

It was a simple and to the point message.

‘Good morning fairy,

I hope you slept well in the forest. I already avoided two of my normal comforts. Namely, jam and toasted bread. Then I felt you inviting me outside, so here I am. Where will we go for my training session?

Loads of love and virtual cuddles,

Jane.

P.S. Are you sure you don’t want tea or coffee? The reason I’m asking is because I have a tea set that you would definitely love because it has beautiful pictures of fairies, flowers and leaves, etc.

P.P.S. Also, I’ve never had a tea party with a fairy before in my entire life. But I’ve heard mum say that there is a first time for everything.’

Jane’s Tea Set featuring Flower Fairies

She went outside and Sophia-Highborn emerged from behind some bushes and took her note. Jane watched her read it before neatly folding it and placing it in a designated section of her basket. She then wrote back to Jane.

‘Jane,

It appears that you are learning quickly and putting into action what you have been told. This is a good sign.

I have noticed that there is a small patch of woodland next to the city park. That is where you will attend today’s instructions.

I must ask you not to talk to me about picnics or tea sets since I did not descend to your world in order to engage in childish fancies. This is an important and challenging errand I am on and if you are indeed serious about cooperating with me, then you should consider giving your china cups away to a girl who aspires to lower things than yourself.’

Jane felt her heart sink. It really stung her to get a negative response from the fairy about having tea together. “Ah, okay.” She then followed her mentor to the small stretch of woodland near the city park.

But after seeing that Jane was deeply upset about her reply, Sophia sighed and wrote her another note.

‘Listen Jane,

If you do well today and put into action what you are taught, then you may share tea with me using your tea set.’

At this, Jane’s face lit up with delight and she was soon in a highly positive and excited mood once again. “Oh, thank you! Thank you! This is going to be so wonderful! I can’t wait!”

But she was gently reminded to avoid talking and to use the written word as the standard form of communication when interacting with the mentor.

Sophia wrote many instructions to Jane and got her to write down passages of the Ordered Code which is a form of conduct that humans should have if they want to attract the light of the Higher World and the attention of the fairy species. Jane was also told to write down all the faults she was currently aware of and what she was prepared to do to overcome them. After this, she was told to keep still with her eyes closed while opening herself up to fairy influence and pondering on the things she didn’t need rather than on the things she wanted, such as chocolates, gossip, endless distractions, wasting time and having her own way in everything.

It was all rather difficult and stressful at first, but by the end of the session, there was a peace that she hadn’t felt before and her inner senses felt more attuned to the subtle and swift touches of the higher world.

She was then allowed to leave for the house and return with her tea set in the basket. Sophia seemed rather expressionless as she watched Jane carefully lay the red and white checkered cloth on the grass and place the cups, biscuits, strawberries, milk and tea pot on top of it. She then beckoned for the fairy to come and join her.

Jane brings a brand of tea fit for the occasion

In a slow and dignified manner, Sophia-Highborn approached and sat down opposite Jane. The young girl was incredibly excited and after smiling with extreme delight and indicating that she wanted the radiant figure in white to smile as well, she carefully offered the fairy a cup of tea on a saucer. Sophia pointed downwards, indicating that she should just leave the cup in front of her and let her take it when she was ready.

Jane then placed the cup down on the cloth in front of her guest and then began to sip her own tea but kept her eyes on her mentor who was cautiously examining the tea, biscuit and strawberry that was set in front of her.

Jane then whispered, “come on! Just lift up the cup and take a sip!”

Sophia looked at her and then back down at the cup. She then slowly lifted it and took a sip. Jane smiled warmly and whispered, “this is amazing! Tea with a fairy! Smile, Sophia!” But Sophia-Highborn appeared to be lost in thought or communication with the Higher World and sat motionless with the tea cup in both hands and her eyes half closed.

The Fairy Agent is slightly slow and reluctant to share tea with a human

Jane felt a little disappointed and after a few more sips, whispered, “don’t let it get cold. You’re supposed to start sipping on it before it cools down, okay?”

She then noticed some small birds coming down from the trees. After slowly taking another sip of the tea, Sophia began breaking up the biscuit and strawberry and offering it to the birds who were now surrounding her. One of the birds then fluttered into the cup, spilling some of the tea and washing its feathers. That was when Sophia-Highborn finally smiled and began stroking the birds. She had an incredibly sweet and radiant smile.

Jane felt impressed but also quite annoyed. “Oh, Sophia! That was meant for you! Not the birds! I wanted to share this tea party with you! Why did you have to call those birds down?!”

Sophia tilted her head a little to one side and smiled at her. She then stood up and went to prepare a final note to conclude the day.

‘Jane, you are on track and should keep striving daily to conform yourself to the Ordered Code.

I give daily reports on your progress to she who has sent me to you.

Be assured that I am grateful for the tea. Well done for not putting sugar in it. You must remember that fairies are givers by nature and that is why I shared the treat you offered me with the birds of the forest.

Give me some more bread and water that I may depart for the day. I will use nonverbal communication to summon you in the morning as I did today.

And now, lastly, a report for you: I have been told that your stepsister, Princess Stephanie, has made a friend named Halworatheen Floralgaze of Lavenders Dale; one who reads to her in the Palace Grounds of Alphiabrook and teaches her the cultivation of inner hearing and communication. Stephanie is slowly becoming more fairylike, and more purified from the darkness of her past.’

(Left) Stephanie Bell listens to Halworatheen (Right), a highly patient and caring fairy who does all in her power to make Stephanie less earthly and more fairylike

After her mentor had left, Jane did her best to reach out to the Higher World and communicate with Stephanie.

But after several attempts, she realised that whatever she was doing wasn’t working and she would still need further training.

But just as she was about to give up and walk home, she felt something. It was the presence of a being from the Higher World trying to communicate something to her. But still, Jane couldn’t quite understand anything distinct and she grew very frustrated. It was all too vague and unclear but she did get a sense that she should just start walking home and perhaps the voice would become clearer once she was less tense and anxious, and more relaxed.

So, she calmly set out on her short journey home. She was walking through the park when she sensed the same presence again. It was the presence of a fairy but didn’t feel like Stephanie. Finally, it got through to her and spoke clearly. But it was not a verbal voice. Nevertheless, Jane knew what it was saying and she was overjoyed to have made such wonderful and exciting progress. It said, “Jane. I am Halworatheen. Your stepsister, Princess Stephanie, asks how you are doing.”

Jane did her best to communicate back but in the end, she gave in to the urge to use her voice and simply blurted out, “yes! I am doing well thank you! I had tea with my mentor!” But after this, she felt that the communication had abruptly ended.

All the rest of the day, she kept trying to talk back to the fairy, Halworatheen. She also kept trying to speak to Stephanie, but nothing further of any significance happened that day.

  1. Hello Domininc,

This episode beautifully captures Jane’s journey into the realm of the Higher World and her interactions with her fairy mentor, Sophia-Highborn. It is fascinating to see Jane’s progression from initially feeling hurt by Sophia’s response to her invitation for a tea party, to ultimately understanding the deeper meaning behind the fairy’s actions.

The symbolism of the tea party, with Jane eagerly wanting to share her world with Sophia, highlights Jane’s innocence and desire for connection. Sophia’s guidance, though stern at times, ultimately leads Jane to a deeper understanding of the Ordered Code and the nature of fairies.

    • Hi Jacky, thanks so much for your positive comment. It was great to hear how you were intrigued by the communication between Jane and the other higher world being. Halworatheen of Garlandwood is a fairy who had a special way of getting through to Stephanie who is still difficult and to some degree corrupt from her past life on Earth. One of the skills she learned while growing up was to attune her senses to humans who are reaching out to the higher world and how to speak to their hearts through a process involving T.H.R.T. (Thought to Human Receptors Transmission).

Thanks again for some great feedback. Stay tuned!

  4. Hi Dominic,

Observing Jane’s spiritual development in a private setting with her fairy mentor, Sophia-Highborn, is fascinating. A clear picture of growth and learning is created by carefully balancing the act between naïve enthusiasm and the strict requirements of fairy protocol.

In contrast to her more impromptu interactions, how do you think Jane’s character development is influenced by the structured teachings of the fairy world?

Furthermore, has Jane’s perception of the priorities of the Higher World been significantly shaped by Sophia’s harsh initial rejection of the tea party?

This narrative beautifully weaves together themes of innocence and maturity within a magical context.

    • Hi Sara,

Thanks for a great comment and for those thought provoking questions!

Well, Jane gets the idea from her training that the fairies are pretty serious and disciplined beings and they expect her to be as well, to a certain degree, if she wants communion and interaction with them.

Jane at first focused more on how hurt she was rather than on the reasons behind why Sophia-Highborn initially said no to the tea party.

  5. That sounds like an intriguing concept! I’d love to discuss the implications and themes that could arise from a story where Jane, a regular person, invites a fairy agent for tea. What do you think this could symbolize in terms of bridging different worlds or cultures? How might this encounter challenge or enrich Jane’s perspective?

  6. Dominic, your narrative in “Jane Invites A Fairy Agent To Have Tea With Her” beautifully explores the whimsical and poignant journey of young Jane as she navigates her interactions with the fairy world. Your ability to blend the mundane with the magical in Jane’s quest to communicate with the Higher World adds a charming layer to the story, making it engaging and endearing.

A couple of questions to ponder for the development of your storyline:

    1. Could you delve deeper into the transformational journey of Sophia-Highborn during her earthly assignments? How does her interaction with Jane and other earthly experiences shape her views or duties as a fairy?
    2. How do the fairies’ perceptions of the human world change or remain constant through their interactions with characters like Jane? Does this impact their strategies in managing their own realm or the training they provide?

These questions might help further explore the dynamics between the fairy agents and the human characters, enriching the thematic depth of your series.

    • Hi Gary, many thanks for your comment and for the questions.

Sophia doesn’t change much despite being sent to Earth twice. Once in pursuit of Stephanie and now to teach Jane to speak with the fairies. She is highly resilient to corruption and while she faces some challenges, she remains a steadfast and reliable fairy agent of the Higher World.

The fairies know what to expect from Jane and their views of her and of the human world are only really measured by the progress Jane makes under her assigned mentor.

But further thought and detail can definitely go into the answering these questions, so thanks for sharing!

      Dominic

What impact do you think Jane’s non-verbal communication skills could have on her interactions with others in her world? This could spark a captivating conversation about the wider implications of comprehending and embracing diverse ways of communication.

    • Thank you! Yes, well humans can’t really speak nonverbally to each other the way fairies can. But it is one of the ways in which they can speak to the fairies.
