A fairy is an incredibly amazing, superior being that can manipulate energy. They live in a higher world but one that is not as densely populated as Earth.
While they all have greater power than we do within themselves, they do need to be taught how to use it. This ability to manipulate energy is called Energy Harnessing. But humans call it ‘Magic.’ It comes in various forms and higher ranking fairies are able to wield more of it than lower ranking fairies.
The higher world male is called a Saltor but humans call it an Elf. The higher world female is a Zelandar but humans call it a fairy. Humans also call the higher world species as a whole, ‘Fairies.’ This is one word that the higher world itself adopted because they liked it and found that it was becoming popular both among the males and the females of the superior species.
Most power from E.H. (Energy Harnessing) is wielded in the life essence but channeled through the hand. Generally it is channelled through only one hand which is actually the non-dominant hand. Like us, this is usually the left hand, also informally called ‘the power hand.’

They used to use the right hand but this was dangerous since the power can sometimes escape from an inexperienced fairy who didn’t really mean it to use it. Since they use their dominant hand a lot for natural and mundane things, it was decided that the channelling hand should be transferred to the left. Only very few and high ranking fairies use both hands to wield the powers from E.H.
It is also possible and sometimes more efficient for fairies to learn to channel their power through an instrument called an En’keel which means Service Rod. But this later became known as a ‘Wand,’ which again, is a name given to it by humans.
It can be highly dangerous and risky for health reasons for a human to touch or hold a wand from the higher world.

The reason why many names of things are different between the two worlds is because fairies usually don’t talk about themselves or their world when appearing to humans. They just come and go, usually to perform an act of kindness or other helpful service. And so humans were left to come up with their own names to express what they encounter. Hence names like ‘fairy,’ ‘elf,’ ‘magic,’ ‘wand,’ etc.
Types & Forms of Powers Generated Through Energy Harnessing
There are various forms of power, or as we humans like to call it, ‘magic,’ that can be wielded by fairies and usually channelled through either the hand or an en’keel.
Forms include the following;
- Low output forms – this includes shedding a brightness, from the hand, face or even the entire body
- Common forms – ordinary level powers that most fairies share in common
- Transitional forms – these include the ‘Temp-Body’ power and ‘Recessive Outer Form Transition’ whereby a fairy can enter the lower world. It also includes the ‘Condensed Form’ power whereby a fairy can reduce their physical size before making contact with a human
- Verbal Utterance forms – some power can be released through words. (Be careful not to talk to a magical entity such as a witch if you suspect that they may have dark intentions. Witches also have this power)
- Special Gift forms – Some fairies are born with special gifts such as Superior Vision or Luminous Mind
- Areal forms – the ability to efficiently use a wing channel and use the air as a further medium of power
- Water forms – the ability to manipulate water
- Woodland forms – the ability to be evasive and cause branches to bend low enough to offer their fruit
- Animal influence forms – Some fairies have an extraordinary and special sway over the animal kingdom
- Human influence forms – this includes the ability to alter human sense perceptions and can cause a person to make sudden movements like getting out of the way of an oncoming car that might otherwise have hit them
- Enchantment forms – the art of infusing a permanent state or particular quality on something material. There are many different types of enchantment and the process can sometimes take many years to achieve. All wands are expensive and enchanted. Some weapons and armour sets are also endowed with forms of enchantment
- Fire & Combat forms – there are dangerous and aggressive forms used for combat
- Flameless Combat forms – combat forms are manifold, some do not include the Fairy Flame power
- High forms – these are hardly ever used. Being significantly more powerful than many other forms, one requires special training as well as Royal permission given formally in writing and verbally. An example is the manipulation of the weather which may cause devastating lighting storms, capable of widescale destruction.
- Rare forms – powers that are not widely known or experimented with
- Two-Handed forms – There are some very powerful practitioners that are allowed to use both hands to channel the power gained through Energy Harnessing
- Royal Rank forms – Royal ranking fairies have their own special gifts and powers that are orientated toward effective governance
- Supreme forms – these are the most powerful forms of magic, some wonderful and others terrifying. Some examples include being able to remotely influence entire governments, absorb powers and knowledge from others and summon and occasionally partially transform other beings with or without their consent from both inside and outside one’s own world

There are too many powers to talk about in detail in one go, but this gives you an idea and basic overview of what fairies and saltors are capable of.
Fortunately for us, fairies are nearly always very good to humans and have dispositions of great kindness and compassion towards us.
The Ranking System Among Fairykind
Rank is used to determine various things including which powers and how much or to what degree a fairy can wield a specific power or multiple powers.
Sometimes words in Luminenya, (some call it Luminarian but this isn’t actually correct) a common fairy tongue, are joined together as will be shown below if the purpose is to name a state or rank of something.
Here are some of the widely accepted ranks among fairies – ten in total: (The list gives the rank names in Luminenya with the English translation after)
- Ye’nayijunga – the rank of young age
- El’shi-jezla – the standard rank
- Urony-cobla – higher or upper class
- Ya’Mattukushi – the rank of public office
- Yo’diamara-vul’regael – Royal Spokesperson rank
- Vul’regael – Royal Rank
- Sentanya-Lissia – Firstborn (one destined to rule next)
- Dolorelshia – the rank of Monarch
- Negata-Altiya – Isolated or Hermit path rank (basically an isolated fairy who is usually highly advanced in knowledge and wisdom. Sometimes such fairies are the first to discover new powers and are exceptionally good at giving advice, even to royal fairies and monarchs)
- Silata El’secuminatae – the rank of Special Practitioner (one who has permission and is capable of using supreme forms of power).
Hey Dominic, very interesting article here. I had no idea that fairies were that complex.
I’m curious, do fairies have enemies? You mentioned saltors – was that a reference to a negative version of fairies or perhaps another species?
I enjoyed learning about the variations and abilities. Your experience and passion definitely shine through!
Thanks,
Jake
Wow, Dominic, you’ve opened up a magical realm with your insights into fairies! The breakdown of their powers, from enchantments to combat forms, is fascinating. And the ranking system? It adds a whole new layer to fairy dynamics. Your explanation of why fairies let humans come up with the names for their stuff is both clever and kind of cheeky. Reading this, it feels like I’m getting a VIP pass to fairy knowledge. Thank you for talking about something that not everybody has the ability to do so. Wonderful work!
