That time had finally arrived for the young thirteen-year-old Hermit Fairy, Sophia-Highborn to commence her mission to the Lower World and find Princess Stephanie Goldmaracynthia Bell. She would then go into Condensed Form, reveal more of her brightness and activate her wing channel in order to impress on the wayward princess the beauty, charm and glory that she was missing out on by remaining on Earth. She would plead with her in the name of the princess’s royal parents and all the United Provinces of the Higher World.
Scattered throughout the country there can be found various stone monuments that were built long ago and were dedicated to the fairies and used by them as entry points when they visited Earth on their traditional Errands of Benevolence. Sophia chose the closest of these monuments that she could find in order to reach Stephanie as soon as possible. It was on the outskirts of Central London in a field with some woodland nearby. The monument was shaped in a semi-circle, or half-moon shape. This would be used as her portal-like entry point to the Lower World.
All alone on the heights of Hermit Mountain and without being allowed to say goodbye to anyone, she prepared to make her journey to the dangerous realm of Earth. Her mentor, Elizabeth Greatheart held back tears as she watched from a distance to see the brave young fairy take her leave. Sophia took a deep breath before activating one of the greatest powers a fairy has; the power of Recessive Outer Form Transition.
A huge burst of brightness appeared as if the fairy had been momentarily transformed and absorbed into a mini sun before quickly vanishing from the mountaintop. Was she now traversing through the immense, unfathomable regions of space? In that case, she might have looked somewhat like a shooting star if only you could see her. But in this state of travel, not even light can keep up and the entire fairy recedes into the life essence for this journey or ‘transition’ to the Lower World. It is not possible to ‘see’ a fairy while she is in this sublime and mysterious state. Some say that while in it, fairies don’t actually ‘travel’ in the sense of a physical object or even light moving from one location to another, but even if this is true, it is still a form of travel nonetheless. But if there was a physical element to the speed of Recessive Outer Form Transition, it would dramatically dwarf the speed of light which would seem like a snail’s pace in comparison.
Another question that no one knows the answer to, and the fairies haven’t commented on, since their task is not to indulge our curiosity, is whether the Higher World is in our universe or not. Some say it is but that it so far away from us that it is outside the boundaries of the observable universe.
It was there in that quiet field that a sudden great brightness appeared again right above the semicircle of the fairy monument and the young fairy landed rather clumsily and rolled over. She had set foot on Earth for the first time. The first thought she had was, ‘yuk! This world is more dull than I ever imagined. No wonder it’s called the Lower World. Why would Stephanie want to stay here?!’

She soon heard a girl squealing, shouting and jumping up and down for joy. It felt somewhat annoying to have been spotted by a distracting human already. The girl called her brother and together they approached her from about eighty yards away. The girl had seen the sudden flash of light, followed by the rather radiant and beautiful young fairy dropping from the monument onto the damp grass with an ‘uh!’ sound as she experienced that ungraceful little crash-land of hers on Earth.
Since she hadn’t yet assumed Condensed Form or ignited her wing channel, she still looked the same size as a normal 13 year-old girl and her wings could not be seen. But there was a striking ethereal presence about her and her attractiveness was breathtaking.
“Quick! Quick!” shouted the girl to her brother, “let’s get to her before she disappears or flies away!” They both ran as fast as they could across the field towards her. Sophia sighed. She wasn’t in the mood for all this attention. “Hey! Fairy! Don’t go anywhere! We just want to see you! And talk!” Humans always made such a fuss of fairies but that was understandable enough. She would have to let them talk to her for a bit before getting on with her mission.
The children’s eyes were full of wonder and excitement as they came near. The girl was breathing fast and noisily both from all that running and also from the sheer charm and excitement of the experience.
She stepped forward. “Hello Fairy! What’s your name? By the way, I’m Siobhan and this is my brother Anthony.” The fairy just stood there for a while, looking back silently at them. Siobhan was trying to resist the urge to reach out and touch the wonderous being. The boy was also staring hard at her in amazement, blinking and happily experiencing her peaceful presence, as well as her brightness and beauty. He spoke in a whisper. “I… I can’t believe what we’re seeing Siobhan!” He then said to the fairy in a low voice, “you look really magical and lovely.” They both waited for her to smile and perhaps say something but nothing happened. She just kept standing there, looking cautiously at them.
After a while, Siobhan crept further forward, now getting very close but the fairy backed away and looked reproachfully at her. Siobhan said, “okay, I’m sorry. I won’t come any nearer or try to touch you. But can you please say something? Or can you show us your wings?”
Sophia slowly shook her head, then carefully tried to take her leave but they went and stood in her way. She stood still again and looked back at them, this time with an urgent expression that told them she needed to go and they needed to let her pass.
“Why don’t you say anything Fairy?” Siobhan then turned to her brother. “Why won’t she speak to us Anthony?”
“Um, I think it’s because neither of us cleaned our rooms this morning without having to be told.”
“Oh yes, of course. What a shame! Ah well, I suppose we’d better leave her alone. She looks kind of stressed out, don’t you think?”
“Yes, I agree. We should let her go.”
“Okay, bye, bye for now Fairy!”
They then got out of her way and she walked towards the woods. They loved seeing her dainty and elegant movement but wished so hard that she would have spoken to them or at least waved them goodbye. The fairy did however, join her hands and bow slightly as a sign of thanks before leaving. Siobhan felt determined to be a very well behaved and good girl from that day onwards, hoping that the next time she saw a fairy, it might speak to her and show her its wings.

Sophia-Highborn knew from what she had been taught that any inordinate or unplanned contact with humans could lead to a fairy’s inner goodness and brightness being contaminated. It was for this reason that she maintained a modest reserve, refusing to speak to or become overly friendly with the young girl and her brother.
Sophia-Highborn & the Farmer’s Son
It would be quite a long trip to the centre of London without transport and the fact was that she didn’t know exactly how to get there, though she did know the general direction. After passing through some of the woodland, she noticed more fields but this time it was clearly a farm. She would see if anyone on the farm would provide her with some provisions and perhaps give her some assistance with regard to her journey.
As she approached a farmgate she noticed a young man on the other side of it heading into a large barn with a bucket of feed. She thought about asking for assistance with the gate but then decided to find another way into the farm. It was possible to enter at another point if she got through a stretch of barbed wire fencing. She put her hand out and pushed one of the wires down so that she could slip through. But she had forgotten for a moment that on Earth they use electricity and the fence being electrified, shocked her quite violently causing her to scream out in pain. She was still stuck on the outside of the farm.
The man in the barn heard her and came to investigate. He squinted his eyes on seeing the barefooted girl in radiant white with bright blonde curly hair that came all the way down to her waist, trying to get into his father’s farm.
She was sure he would end up helping her and felt relieved that she wouldn’t have to spend her energy on anything too dramatic such as using the wing channel just to enter a farm. And there was no way she was going to display her powers in front of a human.
He stood about twenty feet away looking her up and down suspiciously while she looked blankly back at him.
“Uh… Hello?”
But she was silent. He approached further. “What’s up? What are you doing here?”
She pointed to the gate and gestured for him to open it.
“You want me to open the gate?”
She nodded. After thinking for a moment, he proceeded to go round to where the gate was and opened it for her. It was indeed odd noticing how she kept her distance from him but still insisted on entering the premises.
He was a gentle and polite man in his early twenties. He had never seriously asked himself whether fairies existed except when he was very young and had heard about the tooth fairy. He asked himself whether she might be an angel or a ghost because of the brightness that was just about noticeable and set her apart from a normal person. Also, the look in her eyes spoke of an almost infant-like innocence and yet this seemed to be combined with mature qualities of wisdom and intelligence. It felt mesmerising to look at her. She held herself in a respect-commanding posture at all times and moved with great grace and elegance. His mouth nearly dropped open when he got a whiff of that rich, rather floral and rather strange and unknown scent coming from her as she walked through the entrance, still carefully keeping her distance from him.
She then pointed in the direction of the barn. But he started talking to her. “Okay, well, my name is Kenneth. Pleased to meet you.”
Since she didn’t give him her name or say anything, he became slightly uneasy and started chatting.
But she stopped him by first shaking her head and then respectfully putting her index finger near her lips, gesturing for him to stop talking and be quiet. She then indicated again that she wanted him to lead her to the barn.
Although highly surprised and taken aback, he followed her directive and led her inside where she noticed a donkey. She could tell that Kenneth was a good man and she would see if he would agree to feed her a little and then take her on that donkey all the way to the centre of London.

“I’ll be right back,” he told her. He then kindly prepared some food and drink for his strange guest. She refused the tea and the buttered bread with jam on it but accepted plain bread and water. He was also thoughtful enough to bring a wooden bucket of warm soapy water so she could wash her feet. But she looked at him with a puzzled expression and shook her head. He then glanced down and suddenly realised that despite walking on the muddy farm, her feet were perfectly clean. She was definitely a superior being of some kind.
At this point, she was going to need a pencil or pen and paper in order to write to Kenneth, explaining what she wanted. She was able to get through to him that she wanted the writing materials which he also provided and she then began to write while he paced up and down in the barn.
‘Good and Noble Kenneth,
You will allow me to sit on your humble donkey and you will walk alongside him while he carries me to the centre of London. Do not lift me onto the donkey’s back but give me something to climb on when it is time to mount him.
Do this for me and blessings will make themselves felt in your life from this day onwards. I do not use technology or machines so do not speak to me about motor vehicles or other such manmade conveniences. Your donkey is the means I will use to reach my destination. Provide me also a side saddle that I may be secure for the trip. If there is nothing available you must make one for me using light timber covered with leather or cloth.
Leave other concerns aside for now Kenneth and do this for me right away.
Light and blessings be upon you, gentle serviceman,
Sophia Rosemaracynthia Highborn.’
Kenneth read the letter and nodded. But he had a slightly sad expression on his face. He wondered whether to mention that he was supposed to go on a date that evening with a lovely girl whom he had recently met. But he decided not to say anything and set about to fulfil his visitor’s requests without any further delay.
(This tale is part of a larger story).
Hmm! Nice fairy tale, It seems Siobhan and Anthony had long anticipated seeing a fairy agent and when they finally saw one they wanted by all means to have a conversation. But as we all know those from the Higher World are not easily distracted like those in the Lower World. Very entertaining story. But why did the tale end at this point and nothing is said of her mission accomplished or not afterwards? Thanks
Thanks! Yes, a fairy needs to be prepared before contacting humans directly. You can’t just tell a fairy to do something like, ‘talk to me or open your wings and show me.’ They are actually quite reserved creatures. Yes, there is now some more of this story but it is overall part of a larger plot.
Hi Dominic
Your article is very good. What a fairy tale. I have always heard about these fairy tales but never paid attention until reading this article. This article really captured my concentration throughout. If your sit down and try and understand what this fairy really highlight or portray you will find that according to my thinking, it symbolises two different worlds. The higher ( heaven), and lower ( earth) worlds. How life is in heaven and how it is on earth. A very good story. I’m going to let my granddaughter read it
Thank you
Richard
Thank you Richard! It’s great that you found the story to be engaging and I loved how you compared it to a contrast between the heavenly realm and the life of celestial beings vs earth and mortal humans. And so nice to share this with your granddaughter. Take care my friend!
Dominic, your narrative is a captivating blend of fantasy and reality. The introduction of Sophia-Highborn on her mission to the Lower World is both enchanting and mysterious. I particularly enjoyed the vivid description of her transition using Recessive Outer Form, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. The encounter between Sophia and the curious humans, Siobhan and Anthony, adds a delightful touch of innocence and wonder. Your portrayal of the humans’ excitement and the fairy’s reserved demeanor is a charming exploration of the intersection between worlds. Your ability to balance the magical elements with relatable human reactions makes the story accessible and engaging. I’m intrigued to see how Sophia’s mission unfolds and how these unexpected interactions shape her journey. Well done!
Thanks Stephanie! You are a great encouragement as I pen these fairy tales. Yes, realistically, a fairy wouldn’t just behave randomly. She has set instructions and objectives when coming to the Lower World. It’s great you liked the wonder of the children and also the use of that special power to reach Earth. Thanks again!
What an interesting read on the fairy Sophia-Highborn and her visit to earth to try and get the wayward fairy to return to the higher world. As a little girl I was always fascinated by fairy stories and would have loved to have encountered a real fairy.
I look forward to reading more about her journey into London, after she requested Kenneth to make a saddle for the donkey, to use it for a ride into London.
Hi! Thanks for the comment. Yes! I’m sure you can imagine how excited the two kids were to see the ethereal fairy in the field. What a lucky find:) There will be another installment rolling out quite soon where you can hear what Sophia-Highborn does next on her mission.
Take care and have a lovely day!
I love how this story effectively combines fantasy elements with human interactions. It creates a creative narrative in my opinion. The characters are quite developed and the way you create the world is exciting.
I like the inclusion of the letter writing which adds a unique element to the narrative. Sophia-Highborn’s request to use the donkey for her journey and Kenneth’s response through actions creates anticipation for the next part of the story. I am really excited to see where this story leads. Keep up the fantastic work.
Blessings and Abundance!
Thank you for this great comment. Yes, there is something a little more distant about writing to someone but fairies need to be reserved with humans unless they have specific mission and instruction to speak to them.
It’s nice hearing you like the story. The next part will be out today.
Hey thanks for writing such an amazing post up!
This was a great imaginative piece of writing and I personally enjoy reading these types of posts or books since the sky is literally the limit when it comes to these types of ideas!
Siobhan and Anthonys reaction when coming across the fairies I would say is explainable especially after waiting that long!
Keep these coming, thanks and have a great day!
Thank you for this great bit of feedback. Yes the two children were very excited because it was the first time they had seen a fairy! But they didn’t know she was coming and weren’t waiting for her which made it even more of a surprise.
Hello Dominic,
I read the story with one breath! 🙂 Your storytelling is absolutely captivating! The way you’ve blended the mystical elements of fairy lore with a modern setting is wonderful.
I loved the interaction between Sophia and the children, Siobhan and Anthony. How you described their excitement and wonder at encountering a fairy, contrasted with Sophia’s cautious and reserved demeanour, really added depth to the scene. It’s interesting to see how you portrayed the fairy’s reluctance to interact too closely with humans.
The part where Sophia communicates her needs to Kenneth using a letter is a smart touch.
I’m curious to see how Sophia’s journey unfolds, especially her quest to find Princess Stephanie and persuade her to return to the Higher World. Your narrative sets up a lot of exciting possibilities, and I’m very curious to see how the story will follow!
Thanks so much Tugrul. Really happy that you enjoyed the story and that you are interested to read the next installment.
I’m enchanted by the tale of Sophia-Highborn, a young fairy on a significant mission to the Lower World. The narrative skillfully blends the ethereal qualities of fairies with the grounded reality of human siblings, Siobhan and Anthony, creating a captivating contrast. Sophia’s struggle to maintain her reserve and her inner brightness amidst unplanned human interactions adds depth to her character and the story.
I’m curious, what are the specific rules or codes that fairies like Sophia must follow when interacting with humans? How do these rules shape their missions and encounters in the Lower World?
Thanks for a nice comment and question. Well, in the past, visiting the Lower World didn’t come with many problems. It was as history here progressed, that our world got darker and even the fairies sensed a corrupting influence that was dangerous to them. That is when they stopped coming here except for special cases. As a general rule, they needed to minimize human contact. To speak to a human, they must be well prepared beforehand and have clear and noble motives. Sophia for example, would have been told that she should avoid human contact as much as possible and focus on getting through to the missing royal fairy.
This enchanting tale, “Sophia-Highborn meets Siobhan and Anthony,” is a beautifully woven narrative that immerses readers in a world where the mystical and the mundane intertwine. The story of Sophia-Highborn, a Hermit Fairy on a mission from the Higher World to Earth, captures the imagination with its vivid descriptions and engaging plot. The narrative artfully combines elements of fantasy and reality, creating a captivating reading experience.
The journey of Sophia-Highborn is depicted with great detail and charm. The description of her transition from the Higher World to Earth using Recessive Outer Form Transition is particularly mesmerizing, painting a picture of a journey that is both mysterious and awe-inspiring. The encounter with the human siblings, Siobhan and Anthony, is endearing and adds a touch of realism to the fairy tale. Their reactions to Sophia-Highborn, filled with wonder and excitement, are heartwarming and remind us of the pure joy and curiosity of childhood.
What stands out in this narrative is the seamless blending of the fantastical elements with the everyday world. The existence of fairies and their interactions with humans is presented in a way that makes it seem entirely plausible and natural. The story is set against familiar backdrops like London and a farm, grounding the fantastical elements in a real-world setting. This juxtaposition makes the story relatable and even more enchanting.
Hey, appreciate you penning down such an awesome post!
Your imaginative writing really struck a chord with me. I love delving into posts and books that explore limitless ideas like this! This short story might have made me turn a leaf. Before I didn’t prefer fictional writing but thus has really intrigued me.
Siobhan and Anthony’s reaction to the fairies totally makes sense, especially after such a long wait!
Keep it up!
Joe B
Hi Dominic,
Wow. What a great piece. The enchanting tale of Sophia-Highborn’s earthly mission ignites the imagination, blending the magical with the tangible in a captivating dance. This story, rooted in the theme of inter-world interactions, brings to light the complexities and beauty of connections that bridge vastly different realms. It provokes thought on the nature of our openness to the unknown and the purity of curiosity that drives us to explore beyond our confines. Through its vivid descriptions and character dynamics, the narrative encourages a reflection on how we perceive and engage with the world around us, suggesting that wonder and openness can lead to enriching experiences. This tale serves as a delightful reminder of the endless possibilities that lie in the embrace of the magical and the real.
Hello Dominic!
This was such an enchanting read! Siobhan’s encounter with the fairy immediately drew me in—it’s such a creative and captivating premise. I loved how you intertwined the magical and the mundane, making it easy to feel connected to Siobhan while still being swept away by the fairy’s mysterious mission.
The way you described their interaction was so vivid, I could practically see the glimmer of the fairy’s wings. It made me wonder, what inspired you to create such a compelling connection between Siobhan and the fairy? Did you draw from folklore or invent the story entirely from your imagination?
I’m also curious about where this mission will take them. Will we get to see more of Siobhan’s world blending with the fairy’s magical realm? The potential for adventure and discovery feels limitless! Thank you for sharing such a beautifully written piece—it’s left me eager for more!
Angela M 🙂
Hi Angela,
Thanks for you comment! Glad you enjoyed this part of the story. Siobhan was able to recognise a fairy when she saw one but didn’t really get a chance to get to know Sophia-Highborn personally. This isn’t really based on folklore from other writers. It’s an attempt at a kind of new style of telling fairy-tales.
You can find the next part on the website, where Kenneth walks to London with his donkey and Sophia is on a side-saddle, keeping her customary silence. She wants to spend the night in the woods with a fire but he wants to book a hotel.
This story beautifully captures the magical journey of Sophia-Highborn and her encounter with the humans on Earth. I particularly love the contrast between her ethereal nature and the grounded, practical world of Kenneth and his farm. The dynamic between them is intriguing, especially how she relies on non-verbal communication to get her point across, which feels both mysterious and graceful. The writing also does a wonderful job portraying the innocent curiosity of the children and the tension between Sophia’s celestial mission and the mundane world around her. I can’t wait to see how she navigates the challenges of Earth and whether she finds a way to reach Princess Stephanie!
Fairies, what an interesting topic. I have never seen one with my eyes, but I have seen other curious things outside the norm. So, I am open-minded. In this story, the fairy encounters children and then a kind-hearted man. I believe that you do experience situations that are within your vibrational level, since she is of a higher realm, she would draw those who would be comfortable around her. I enjoyed the reading. Wonder what comes next?
Dominic’s story masterfully interweaves elements of fantasy and human interaction, offering readers a vibrant and imaginative narrative that teems with both charm and mystery. The tale of Sophia-Highborn, a Hermit Fairy on a mission to rescue Princess Stephanie from the Lower World, is richly crafted, blending the ethereal world of fairies with the mundane and earthy realities of humans. This contrast highlights the inherent differences between the Higher and Lower Worlds, adding depth and intrigue to the plot.
Sophia’s arrival on Earth is portrayed with vivid imagery, from her radiant transition to her crash-landing, which humorously underscores her inexperience in human realms. The encounter with Siobhan and Anthony injects a touch of innocence and awe, showcasing how humans perceive fairies as enchanting yet unattainable beings. Similarly, the introduction of Kenneth, a farmer’s son, illustrates the human inclination to help even when faced with the inexplicable, while his polite demeanor and selflessness add warmth to the story.
Dominic’s attention to detail, especially in describing fairy travel, their reticence to interact with humans, and the symbolic use of the donkey, underscores the depth of his world-building. The narrative leaves readers eager to learn more about Sophia’s mission and the fascinating intersection of these two worlds.
What a captivating fairytale. I very much enjoyed the interactions between Sophia Highborn and all the humans. It makes me very curious as to what the relationships between fairies and humans are in this world. The detailed world-building, especially the use of “Recessive Outer Form Transition” and the mysterious realm of the Higher World, created an intriguing backdrop for the story. I look forward to seeing how Sophia’s journey unfolds!
